Two Bridges

Many films set in New York feature scenes of characters looking out of the subway train’s window while crossing the East River over the Manhattan Bridge. Complemented by music or the sounds of the city, these moments on a Manhattan-bound train offer views of the city skyline, the Brooklyn Bridge to the left, and a glimpse of the Two Bridges neighborhood to the right. I usually choose the right side on the train, for the view of Two Bridges.

Two Bridges is a nine-block area between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. Culturally vibrant and diverse, it has been designated a historic district recognized for its significant architectural heritage. This documentary series is a reverent look at the rhythm, aesthetic, and enduring spirit of the neighborhood, under and between two bridges.
